A dental veneer is hand made from a wafer thin shell of porcelain, which fits extremely accurately over the front surface of your own natural tooth.
The colour is adjusted so it blends perfectly with the adjacent teeth and the veneer is then permanently bonded (cemented) into position.
Veneers can be very successful when one or more front teeth need to be cosmetically improved – perhaps old unsightly stained fillings need covering-over; or perhaps a tooth is a little out of line/crooked and needs to be brought back into line.
In some cases the whole smile can be altered/cosmetically improved by creating veneers to fit over all six front teeth. This creates a very beautiful new smile.
Probably the biggest advantage of a veneer over a crown is the need to remove only the absolute minimum amount of your own natural tooth – kinder to you and your teeth.
